Life Coaching Helps You Build Your Four Pillars of Life

by max-im

As you know, the 4 pillars of life determine your everyday life. These are the structures of life that drive your level of contribution in the world. Every decision you have made or ideas you have contemplated fall within any one of these 4 pillars. Your job is to ensure that all 4 of your life pillars are strong and built on a solid foundation. Life Coaching helps you strengthen your resolve to take care of these meaningful pillars and change your life.

“People are basically the same the world over. Everybody wants the same things – to be happy, to be healthy, to be at least reasonably prosperous, and to be secure. They want friends, peace of mind, good family relationships and hope that tomorrow is going to be even better than today” Zig Ziglar

The 4 pillars of life fall in these categories: 1. Relationships, 2. Health and Wellness, 3. Career/Work and Finances, and 4. Spiritual Development. These 4 pillars are essential for an integral lifestyle. Just like a car needs all of its 4 good wheels to securely move forward, you also need to be sure that all 4 of these areas of your life are solid.

Most people invest most of their energy in one or two of these pillars. Some would be very successful in their career, but would neglect their relationships or health. Others would be health fanatics, but would disregard their financial problems. In other words, no matter how hard you work in one capacity, there will always be something missing in another. This is because you are attempting to drive a vehicle equipped with only one or two wheels. This can never sustain you.

Below are the 4 pillars of life:

1. The Pillar of Health & Wellness

Why is this pillar important? You need your strength and health before you can take care of anyone else. Ask yourself and answer honestly… Are you taking good care of yourself? Are you eating fairly well? Are you exercising at least 3/4 times a week? This might seem like a tall order for now. Nonetheless, Ask yourself if you are worthy of a healthy body and mind.

“Wellness is the complete integration of body, mind and spirit – the realization that everything we do, think, feel, and believe has an effect on our state of well-being” Greg Anderson

 You are worthy

Neglecting to take care of your one and only vehicle in life is comparable to viewing yourself as unworthy. Looking after yourself can give you a great sense of accomplishment. When you do something positive for your wellness, you will be most proud! The feeling that you get from the results of your labour is incomparable. This is what it means to be happy in one pillar. Now, imagine feeling the same in all 4 of them.

2. The Pillar of Relationships

This is the pillar of all relationships; your relationship with your parents, children, siblings, neighbours, friends, romantic relationships, work colleagues, fellow students, and the general public. Relationships are fundamental in life, without them, we are lost, really.

How are you with your relationships? Is the connection with your parents strong and healthy? What about your friends and work colleagues? Are these relations in a good place? Do you always leave a good impression with the people you just met?

Treat others the way you wish to be treated

Remember to always do your best and do your part. Do not worry yourself about who did or did not do this or that. Just do your best and represent yourself with grace all the time, or as often as you can.

Be there for people who need you. And always treat others the way you wish to be treated. This does not mean that you should let others take advantage of you. It simply means that you should surround yourself with friends that build and support your efforts towards personal development.

“We can improve our relationships with others by leaps and bounds if we become encouragers instead of critics.” Joyce Meyer

Do not forget to always treat your parents with great respect. Be kind to your neighbours and welcome new contacts with openness, because you never know why you have made their acquaintance to begin with.

3. The Pillar of Career/Work/Finances

Most people spend most of their lives in this pillar. This is the one that affects people the most. Even though I believe that all the pillars are equally important, chances are that you give this one the most significance. In fact, when this pillar is in strain, almost all the others will suffer.

Be passionate about what you do for a living

Now, how do you become contented in this pillar? What are the driving measures? Is it money? Yes money is essential. It makes life easier. However, are you happy with what you are doing for your money? Are you passionate about what you do? Lastly, are you proud of your job/career, do you feel fulfilled?

“Never work just for money or for power. They won’t save your soul or help you sleep at night.”– Marian Wright Edelman

I will let you in on a secret. Believe in what you do for a living. If you would feel apprehensive sealing your name next to your job title with pride, then reconsider. You can not, of course, do this alone, and do not attempt to fix it by yourself. The first step is acknowledging your predicament. The next step is seeking the help of a professional that would assist you to find your passion and to achieve your true goals.

4. The Pillar of Spiritual Development

Who am I, why am I here and what is the point of all this? These are the questions that lead us to our spiritual quest. After many years of darting about in the labyrinth, suddenly you become aware, “ wait a minute, I thought earning this much money and having such a huge house would make me happy”. This awareness propels you to appreciate that nothing outside yourself will ever bring you true happiness.

It’s a journey…

This is not necessarily about aspiring to have and know all the answers. It is more about the journey, the journey to self-discovery. I am not sure that anyone can really say, “I have searched and I now have arrived at my destination”, because spiritual growth is a progression. It is like climbing stairs, one step at a time.

“Learning is the beginning of wealth. Learning is the beginning of health. Learning is the beginning of spirituality. Searching and learning is where the miracle process all begins” Jim Rohn

As with wisdom, you can never truly know it all. The most wise know this. They always state that wisdom is knowing that you still have much to learn. In fact, everyone has something to teach you if only you can see and hear. You can learn from the wisdom of others, and yet you can also learn from the errors others make. However, even more important is that seeking within rather than looking out-there brings more comprehension of what truly matters in life

In conclusion

In order to live a more balanced life, all 4 pillars need to be strong. The 4 pillars of life represent strength and stability. They need to be built on a strong foundation in order to withstand obstacles and hindrances. A strong foundation signifies your true desire in all four areas. Be true to yourself, and your foundation will be unwavering. Life Coaching helps you focus on what matters in life.
